Why Is Servo-electric Technology Better?

2024-02-22

The benefits of applying full servo-electric technology to sheet metal processing machines are many, not just greater energy savings. It improves your production across the board: produce more products at lower costs, with higher quality and flexibility.

Reduce energy consumption

High precision bending

Faster bending operations

Flexibility, versatility and adaptability Requires less maintenance

reduce environmental pollution

Higher material recovery and minimal contamination

How will robotics and artificial intelligence impact bending technology?

The use of robots in the sheet metal bending industry is increasing significantly, both in press brakes and panel benders. In what ways has robotics evolved over time?

In the 1980s, the main goal of robotics was to replace humans in the production of large-volume parts in tasks involving highly repetitive operations and laborious, stressful, or devalued work. Today's manufacturing needs have changed. The demand for low-volume, short-life and high-variability products requires the development of robotics.

Modern robotics must therefore prioritize programmability (preferably offline), adaptability to different productions and flexibility. Despite these advances, robots still require field testing after programming before they can be put into production. One of the major upcoming challenges for robotics

is to eliminate this testing phase and go straight to production.

How does the adoption of artificial intelligence technology create opportunities for the sheet metal bending industry?

Achieving the desired shape and fit when bending sheet metal requires careful consideration of several factors, including material type, thickness and part shape. Finding the optimal bending angle to achieve these goals is often a challenging and time-consuming task.

For example, based on initial data and all subsequently acquired information, an AI system can generate ideal bending angles and tool selections to ensure accurate and efficient bending while minimizing waste on the first part produced.

In the near future we will be able to achieve the optimal bending angle on the first try without failure and will no longer need angle control to achieve that angle but to verify that the bending has been performed correctly. Artificial intelligence technology can significantly help manufacturers reduce costs while improving production efficiency, benefiting the entire industry.
